Hi, I'm Helen Leslie. I am 17 years old and this is my fourth year with the FIX IT team, but my seventh year on a FIRST team.
I particularly enjoy all the travelling I've gotten to do with the team and getting to meet teams from different countries.
Outside of robotics, I enjoy playing the flute, reading and getting emotionally invested in tv shows. I also regularly go skiing and/or snowboarding as well as volunteer with the goats at our local fair every year.
My name is Guy Stoppi. This is my third and last year on the FIX IT team, but I’ll be graduating with a lot of awesome experiences from all over the world.
I love programming the robot, especially its image analysis component, and all the traveling I get to do on the team.
Outside of the robotics, I tutor at my school and help plan school events. I am planning to study computer science at university.
Hi, I’m Alec Krawciw. This is my fourth year on the FIX IT team.
I like programming and robots. This year will be my last year on the team and I would like to create BioBoy, a program similar to RobotBoy and WireBoy, which will write my profile for me!
Outside of robotics, I play the piano and the viola. I really like school. I am planning to study engineering at my local university.
Hi, I’m Aila Simpson. This is my second year on the FIX IT team, but my fifth year on a robotics team.
Right now, I am teaching myself Java, electronics and mechanics through school. In my spare time, I love to read, play guitar and sing. I also enjoy travelling and am looking forward to doing so with the team.
I enjoy learning how robots work and building mechanisms, especially when they work.
This year is my first on the FIX IT team, but my 6th year on a FIRST team.
I enjoy building and designing robots and seeing a robot evolve through a season. I also enjoy all the traveling we get to do as a team and look forward to all the places we’ll get to go.
Outside of robotics, I like building with LEGO and have a YouTube channel where I upload my creations. I like biking as well as skiing and most other outdoor recreation.
I'm Jack Morris. 2015-16 was my first time on the FIX IT team and second year in FTC and FIRST.
After helping FIX IT at Washington State Championships, FIX IT invited me to be a part of their team since my original team was no longer competing. I graciously accepted. It's been great being part of their team for the World Championships in St. Louis, the Asia-Pacific Open in Sydney, Australia, and the World Robot Contest in Beijing China.
Outside of FTC, I enjoy programming Arduinos and Raspberry Pi computers. On a non-robot basis, I enjoy skiing.
I am very excited that FIX IT is having me work with them!
Hi, my name is Ian Leslie and I am 16 years old. I used to be in an FLL team, but this is my second year as a member of an FTC team. The best part of being in an FTC (or FLL) team is that after a while the entire team seems to become friends that you can have fun with. In my spare time I like to do programming (currently I am focusing on programming Flash games), I enjoy programming challenges and am looking forward to programming the FTC robot. I also do a bit of art.
I was with the team for the 2009/10 and 2010/11 seasons.
I'm Katherine Silversides. This is my sixth year working with LEGO robots, and my third working with TETRIX. I enjoy the planning of the programming, and figuring out just why the robot isn't doing what we told it to do, or more accurately, what we forgot to tell it! When my life isn't involving robots (in one way or another), I'm a competitive curler and enjoy squeezing in a time for reading a book or two.
I was with the team from 2009/10 through 2012/13, including two teams that went to the FTC World Championships in St. Louis.
I'm Devin Campbell. This year is my third year with the FIX IT team. I am not totally absorbed in robotics. I'm also a scuba diver, and amateur rock climber. I'm part of a wrestling team and work at a pizza place.
I was with the team from 2009/10 to 2011/12, including one team that went to the FTC World Championships.
My name is Kika Mueller and I am in Grade 9 at Esquimalt High. I first heard about and met the FIX IT team at the 2010 Vancouver Island Science Fair. This is my first time working with any kind of robots. Besides FTC, I am involved in drama, sewing and music. I love logic and am hoping to have lots of fun working out the kinks in the robot!
I'm Megan McQuade-Eid. I've been on an FLL team for the last five years and am ready for a new robotic challenge. I joined the FIX IT team at the beginning of December and love naming parts of the robot. I'm involved with Girl Guides, rowing and skiing. Megan loves driving the robot.
I'm Daniel Wason and I'm 14 years old. Last year I was on a FIRST LEGO League team. After about 10 years of playing with LEGO it was fun to work with Mindstorm robots. I saw FTC robots at a provincial tournament and wanted to jump into FTC. My favourite part of the FTC experience is designing and building the robot. Other things I enjoy doing are playing video games, hanging out with friends, and active stuff.
Hello, I am Luc William John Briede-Cooper, but I just go by Luc. I was born in London England. That was one year of my live in which I have no memories and as each moment passed, it became more and more distant. As each moment passes as I write I feel the question pending, lingering in the back of my mind like the distant background of music; inescapable yet inevitably. Why are we here? The question of the ages that has baffled the minds of the Great and Wise. The question I have yet to answer in this brief history of time in which we live and thrive. In my search for answers I have unexpectedly found myself on an FTC robotics team due to the joint persuasive efforts of Devin and my parents. This is my FIRST attempt at the creation of a mechanical mechanism with its own special purpose, unlike us humans. I was on the team for part of the 2010 season.
I'm Sebastian Sutter and I'm 15 years old. I started in 2006 with the NanoStormers in the First Lego League. That year went well for us, winning 1st place in Teamwork at the BC provincial tournament held in Vancouver. One year later, I participated in the Power Puzzle challenge. This year I decided to join the First Tech Challenge to try out the new building system, TETRIX, and for the fun we have as a team. I enjoy building with Lego and TETRIX and also seeing the finished robot on the playing field. Besides FTC, I keep busy with photography, video games and the Air Cadets.
My name is Daniel Shorr and I'm 16 years old. 2015-16 was my 3rd in FTC. Moving to the United States, 4 years ago from Beijing, China, my friend and club mate Nick Cosby introduced me to the local Robotics team, and I jumped at the opportunity to explore my interests in Engineering.
I I focus on the mechanical side of the robot, designing assemblies, and documentation in the engineering notebook. In my free time, I enjoy playing the cello and playing video games with my friends. I attend high school in Woodinville, WA, United States.
Thanks to the FIX IT team for inviting me to be part of their adventure in China at the World Robot Contest.
